For the first decade of my career as a speech-language pathologist, I was unsure of my skills when using AAC and AT. With time, help from SLP peers, trainings, my sentiments for AAC and AT changed. This course will provide the most functional content for AAC and AT use. Additionally, I will share stories of how AAC and AT have impacted the lives of my students and clients.
Participants will:
Participants will describe communicative needs and functions of supporting non-verbal communicators
Participants will describe use and value core vocabulary words
Participants will discuss AAC and AT interventions to maximize speech and language outcomes in educational and clinical settings.
Time-ordered agenda:
02 minutes–Introductions and Disclosures
13 minutes–Benefits of Core Vocabulary
30 minutes–Using AAC and AT in Intervention
10 minutes-Considerations for Generalization
05 minutes-Conclusion and Questions
Practitioners attending live events will be asked to answer questions at the end of the course about what they learned and how they will use the information they learned in practice. Once the questions (below) are completed, participants will receive their certificate.
