Eleventh and Twelfth Grade

groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grades 11-12 topics, texts, and issues,
building on others' ideas and expressing their own clearly and persuasively.
a. Propel conversations by posing and responding to questions that relate the current
discussion to broader themes or larger ideas; actively incorporate others into the discussion;
and clarify, verify, or challenge ideas and conclusions.

Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
A small handful of states have not adopted the common core, Texas being one of them. While the
requirements per grade level are largely identical, the order and focus of each area vary a bit. We
have included Texas’ TEKS related to communication for those of you working in the Lone Star
State.
Pre-Kindergarten – Articulation
I.C.3. Child shows competence in initiating social interactions.
I.C.4. Child increasingly interacts and communicates with peers to initiate pretend play
scenarios that share a common plan and goal.
II.C.1. Child’s speech is understood by both the teacher and other adults in the school.
