3. Take good data less often
It is impossible to take good data constantly during every session. Here are various data-taking
schedules. Find what works for you:
“I take the first few minutes of each session to collect data on a set number of trials. Then the rest of
the session can be spent on the activity without the worry of collecting data.”
“I take data for 1-2 students per session rather than tracking of all students in the group. “
“I usually get good hard data on goals once per month per student."
4. Talk and share with your fellow SLPs
Each situation, district, or company has certain requirements for data. Make sure to talk to your
peers about how they are collecting data. Guaranteed, you are not alone in trying to take data
effectively. Talking to your peers will help you arrive at a system that works well for you. Here are a
few examples to use to get yourself started.
