DOES DYNAMIC ASSESSMENT HAVE A

              BAD REPUTATION?

There are many reasons why Dynamic Assessment is not openly adopted or well understood.

It’s something we all know we are supposed to be doing but very few SLPs have been given
instructions on how to do it quickly and efficiently so we are left feeling badly if it isn’t included in our
               testing.

The version we learned in grad school was typically a long, drawn-out process intended to teach us
why dynamic assessment is important but not how to do it in a real clinical or school setting.

Dynamic is a fancy way for saying “different every time,” so it is really difficult to make a product or
permanent solution because it is somewhat unique for every testing situation.

Even for those of us who have used dynamic assessment, normally it is to probe speech sounds or
simple language structures. But, the wheels come off the wagon when we confront, AAC, VPI,
fluency, bilingualism or more serious disorders. This is sad because these are the situations where

testing dynamically is the most valuable.

Whatever your starting point, the purpose of this e-book is to make you a convert so that you are
singing dynamic assessment’s praises and are including it in every single evaluation. Heck, you
might even find yourself writing reports that have NO standardized testing and being fully confident
               in your results!

Here’s how we are going to get you there:
                                                                                                                                               4
