4. Create a Lesson Plan
By crea ng a lesson plan you can organize your teaching around one academic topic and have
ac vi es planned for several sessions or weeks. Each unit contains two lesson plans. This sec on
contains an example and blank templates for you to modify for your own ac vi es. If possible, we
suggest that you meet with others who work in the life skills classroom and make the materials
together. Many professionals have cut their planning me in half by crea ng materials for mul ple
campuses at the same me. ATer you have created your lesson plan structure, minimal prepara on
me is needed for each plan.
Steps to begin
Make a copy of the lesson plan template for each lesson and fill it in with the book, song and
crea ve ac vi es that you choose. List goals you will target for each ac vity. Refer to the sample
lesson plan.
Prepare the lesson by making copies of ac vity pages and homework sheets.
Collect materials if applicable.
Have audio files ready for the song and prepare auditory clips needed for any of the ac vi es.
