Craft: Make a Ladybug H
INSECTS
Suggested book: The Grouchy Ladybug/La mariquita malhumorada
Materials (per student): ladybug mat, red construction paper
(2 semicircles), black construction paper (4 spots), brass fasteners (2)
Directions for Adult:
1. Print and cut the ladybug mat (see opposite page) for each child.
2. Using patterns, cut 2 red semicircles and 4 small black circles from
construction paper. (Tip: Fold construction paper multiple times so you get
several circles per cut.)
3. Line up ladybug wings on body and pre-pierce holes through the gray dots on
the ladybug’s wings and body.
Directions for Student:
1. Pick a ladybug mat.
2. Select two red semicircles (i.e. the wings) and attach to the ladybug body.
Put fasteners through the holes in the wings and body.
3. Glue the black spots to the red wings.
4. Open and close the wings to help the ladybug fly!
Instrucciones para el estudiante:
1. Escoge tu alfombrilla de mariquita.
2. Elije dos semicírculos rojos (las alas) y sujétalas al cuerpo de la mariquita.
Pon los broches latonados por las alas y por el cuerpo.
3. Pega las manchas negras en las alas rojas.
4. ¡Abre y cierra las alas para ayudar a tu mariquita a volar!
