                  Teaching How to Describe 7.4

related to the five senses can be discussed at lunch as well as during science

                          class.
The words that we learn are based on our experiences and the many associa ons we

make between a word and its rela onship to our other experiences. The more associa ons

we have with a word, the be er we are able to remember it, retrieve it, and use it. As we
strengthen our associa ons with a word, the use of the word will come along naturally. A

child might need to hear a word many mes and have many different experiences with it

before they fully grasp the concept and add it to their word repertoire. This is completely

normal. Children develop at their own pace. We need to honor each child's pace and

                encourage their learning.
