Determining whether language errors result from native language influence or language impairment can be challenging. Taking language and culture into account, this workshop provides speech-language pathologists (SLPs) with a framework and information about many languages to enhance understanding of language development in English Language Learners (ELLs). The framework is demonstrated with Spanish and Vietnamese, and resources are provided for use with many other languages to allow confident diagnostic decisions for ELLs.
