Considering Dialectal Variation in Speech-Language Assessments and Intervention
Dr. Megan-Brette Hamilton – Auburn University
Wednesday September 1st – 5-6:30pm CST
Course Type: Live Webinar
Cultural-linguistic differences between SLPs and their clients may lead to inaccurate assessment, misdiagnoses, and ineffective intervention practices.
By learning about the nature of cultural-linguistic differences (e.g., African American English) and how these differences influence communication (e.g., phonology, pragmatics, literacy), SLPs can begin to implement more culturally responsive assessment practices.
