Is Language Mixing okay?

January 25, 2010

Should I try to correct my child if he uses Spanish and English in the same
phrase?  My three-year-old son will try to speak to me in Spanish, but will
name things in English.  For example, he might say “Quiero cookie.”  Should
I try to correct him using all English or all Spanish (i.e., ‘I want cookie’
or ‘Quiero galleta’)?  Thanks!

Happy New Year!

So is it 20-10 or Two Thousand Ten?  When do we make the switch over?  It’s not Nineteen Hundren and Fourteen, it’s 19-14.  Do we not do the short version because it is a new thousand years?  Someone let me know if there is a consensus.

We are happy to announce that we will again have a booth at TSHA.   If we haven’t met you personally and you are going, please stop by and say hi.  If you are from Fort Worth, please tell us where to eat and drink!

(e.g., escuela-[eskela]  This child can repeat each vowel in isolation, but
reduces every time at the word level.
